Extending Reliable Electricity Across Southern Shan
Yaung Ni Oo Electric completed a multi-township Shan South rural electrification program covering Pinlaung, Naungtayar, and Tigyit. Under the World Bank National Electrification Plan (NEP) framework, the project built 11 kV lines and installed distribution transformers to expand access and improve supply quality for rural communities—reinforcing electricity distribution in Myanmar and accelerating local development.
Geographic Coverage & Quantities
Engineering and routing accounted for terrain, clearances, and seasonal conditions to ensure durability and safety:
- Pinlaung: 24 villages electrified via 27.02 miles of 11 kV line
- Naungtayar: 6 villages via 5.75 miles
- Tigyit: 7 villages via 5.28 miles
Schedule, Planning, and HSE
Delivered in 365 days / 2,920 hours, the program relied on disciplined planning and close community coordination. A multidisciplinary team—survey, civil, electrical—sequenced works to maintain the critical path through the rainy season.
Key practices:
- Terrain-aware foundation design and access logistics
- Staged procurement to avoid material gaps
- Safety-first execution with rural HSE controls and daily briefings
Turnkey Delivery & Technical Works
Operating as turnkey EPC, Yaung Ni Oo Electric managed survey, design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning:
- 11 kV distribution lines (RC poles, crossarms, insulators, conductors)
- Distribution transformers sized to village loads, LV take-offs, service readiness
- Earthing, anti-climb & safety signage, sectionalizing as required
- QA/QC checkpoints, protection coordination, and full as-built documentation
All materials and workmanship aligned with national and international quality standards to ensure resilient, low-loss networks.
Community Benefits
Commissioning the networks now enables villages across Pinlaung, Naungtayar, and Tigyit to access:
- Stable, reliable electricity for lighting, refrigeration, and telecoms
- Better voltage quality and fewer outages
- Stronger foundations for schools, clinics, agro-processing, and micro-enterprises
Handover & Program Integration
All works were inspected, commissioned, and handed over to the National Electrification Plan (NEP) authorities for sustainable operation and maintenance within Myanmar’s distribution framework.
